Another Great Shower!

Yesterday we had another great shower!! This one was in my hometown of Levelland, and what a blessing it was. Farrah raked in the gifts and slept through it the entire time. I was a lot smarter this time. The first shower Farrah was passed around a lot and that night I paid for it!! She cried all night because she was so sore. So this time I made sure she was not passed around a lot. Aunt Shawna, Nana and Lula were in charge of her and did a great job of not letting her get passed around. Thank you so much because she went down very easy last night. One of the gifts we received was this bear with the Adoption Creed on it. It says Not of my flesh nor bone on my bone, but still miraculously my own. Never forget for a single minute, you didn't grown under my heart, but in it!! I read that and got very emotional. This statement says it all! Thanks Carolyn for this and thank you for sharing your adoption story with me. As long as I've know her I had no idea she was adopted so that gift was extra special!! And another amazing lady made a painting for Farrah with her name on it and it is so adorable!! I love it and can't wait to get everything decorated for Farrah's room.

Unemployed!!

Yesterday was a big day. I gave my employer my notice. I would not even call it a notice. A notice you give a least two weeks, I'm just not going back to work. Thankfully my boss is my brother-in-law, Jay. I think he knew there was a big possibility that I was not coming back and he was not surprised at all. He was excited for us that I was going to be able to stay home. I called James after my lunch with Jay and told him. I have worked since I has 14 years old and to not be working any more is kinda weird for me. I know the job I have at home will be a lot harder than any other job I've ever had and it's already proving that. But at the same time I've known my entire life that I wanted to be a mommy and I am thrilled to FINALLY get the opportunity to fulfil my dreams!!

One Month Today!!

My baby is a month old!! This kinda saddens me. She has come such a long way and doing so great. She started out at 5lbs and 14oz and now she is close to 7 1/2 to 8 pounds. I take her in Monday for an official weigh but I know she is growing so fast, both in weight and length. She is such a great baby and has brought so much joy to our entire family. I'm sitting here remembering what a month ago how our lives were turned up side down. Please still keep her birth mom in your prayers...here lately she has really been on my heart so please just keep her in your prayers. I took her picture in this outfit while she was in NICU and then today and she is almost already to big for it!! Tomorrow will be an exciting day, she has her newborn pictures taken. I promise I will post some of her proofs.

First Family Vacation!

We had a GREAT time in Grapevine this weekend. My family went to the Greatwolf Lodge and...wow!! This thing was huge. And kids everywhere!! My parents, my sister and her family and my brother's kids went, unfortunately Lance and LaJuana could not make it with us this year. We played at the water park all day Friday and Saturday and I think the kids wore the adults out. They would still be going if we let them. On Saturday morning the guys went to the Bass Pro Shop and the girls took the kids to the water park and that afternoon we switched. The girls went shopping and the guys had the kids at the water park. Farrah had a full day of shopping!! First at Bass Pro and then shopping with us girls. She got lots of looks!! James said that there were a lot of ladies making comments about her and how cute that her daddy had her at the Bass Pro Shop already. While we were shopping Shawna was holding her and a lady came up to her and asked her if she could hold the baby!! I can not believe people!! Shawna of course said NO!! Saturday evening we took all the kids to the Rain Forest Cafe and they had a great time!! All the animals going crazy and all the waiter's yelling VOLCANO. They didn't know what to do. Farrah had a little to much of this and at the end of dinner she finally lost it. So she and I got to excuse ourselves from the restaurant. What a great first family vacation.

I want to leave you an update on Farrah. She gave me her first smile last Thursday!! Oh my goodness talk about my heart melting!! She smiled and James Friday morning and he was just as excited. She smiled all weekend for my family and they just fell more in love with her!! Her umbilical cord FINALLY fell off and she had her first "real" bath this weekend. It was with me because we could not fit one more thing in the car so her bath had to stay behind. James got to help with that..it really scares me holding her when she is wet because she is real slippery. James wanted to take a picture of her first bath but I shot that one down (I think you know where I'm going with that).

Just Waiting!!

Well we finished painting Farrah's room and boy it is bright!! The only way I can describe the color is the color of a Granny Smith Green Apple. Now all we are waiting for is her furniture to come in!! One piece has been shipped and will be here this week. I'm so excited!! Here is a pick of her room so far. Just remember it's no where close to being finished.



And next week will be a very exciting week. Abby's wonderful sister Maggie is taking Farrah's newborn pictures!! I can't wait. Maggie is a wonderful photographer and I know they will be amazing.

The Joy of Painting

So I am finally getting around to painting Farrah's room. I have no idea why it's taking me so long..(wink wink) She is doing amazing. She will be three weeks old on Wednesday and its so amazing that my baby is almost a month old!! She is loosing her newborn look and that just breaks my heart!! Everyone looks at her and says she so little and I'm looking at her thinking she's gotten so big!! (Sigh) We have our first road trip this weekend to Grapevine TX and are very excited to get away!! I think this will be one of the only trips that she might actually be good at sitting in a car seat for a long period of time.
We also got a call from the guy who is going to do the home study and want to do it next week!! So the pressure is really on for me to finish her room.

Time Flies When Your Having Fun!

I love being a mommy!! It's hard to believe that Farrah is 2 weeks old already. She is the best baby!! She sleeps about four to five hours every night. She has had one fussy day and it still wasn't all that bad. She did however throw up all over herself and me. James got to come home for lunch that day and give her a bath. That same day she gave James a really bad diaper. She had poop from her waist all the way down to her ankles...we did learn that Huggies do not work as well as Pampers. I enjoy my 2am feedings with her. She looks at me with those big eyes and just smiles. That girl can melt my heart in 2 seconds!! When I'm exhausted all she has to do is just smile and I'm a goner. Of course the smiles aren't real it's probably just gas but I love them anyway!! And she has changed so much in two weeks. She looks so different! She has gain a whole pound!! Her little face is really starting to fill out. She actually has cheeks! She loves her thumb, which I try to replace with her pacifier. I told James that I can throw away her pacifier but I can't throw her thumb away!! I hope I win this small battle but she is putting up a good fight.

This last Saturday we had her first shower in Lubbock and it was amazing!! We are truly blessed with all our friends and family. I don't think I've ever seen so much pink! We are still working on her nursery and getting it organized. I did receive gift cards that added up to enough to buy her dresser, so I'm VERY excited about that!! When I get her nursery done I promise I will post pictures.
